These Single Surface Back Boxes are practical white 1 gang surface mount boxes designed for use with a wide range of electrical, AV, data and low-voltage faceplates. Available in both 25mm and 47mm depths, these back boxes provide a straightforward solution for installations where a faceplate needs to be mounted onto the surface of a wall, panel, cabinet or other suitable fixing point, rather than recessed into the wall.
These conform to BS EN60670-1, giving installers confidence that they are using a wiring accessory designed to meet the relevant standard for boxes and enclosures for electrical accessories. AVSL lists these as 1 gang white surface mount back boxes for a variety of electrical face plates, with both 25mm and 47mm depth versions available within the same product family.
The 25mm depth option is best suited to simpler faceplates where rear cabling and connectors do not require significant clearance. It can work well for many low-profile wallplates or accessories where a compact surface-mounted finish is preferred. The 47mm depth option is better suited where extra space is needed behind the faceplate, such as when using deeper modules, thicker cables, rear tails, soldered connections or AV connectors that require a larger bend radius.
For AV installations, the deeper 47mm version is often the safer choice when dealing with HDMI, VGA, USB, XLR, speaker or multimedia wallplates, as these connections can require more rear clearance than standard electrical accessories. The 25mm version may still be suitable for lower-profile plates, but cable depth and bend space should always be checked before installation. This helps avoid unnecessary pressure on connectors and supports a neater, more reliable final fit.
