The Optimal Audio ZonePad VL1 is a simple passive wall-mounted volume controller designed for use with the Optimal Audio SmartAmp range. It provides straightforward local level adjustment from within a room or zone, making it ideal for commercial audio systems where staff or users need easy access to volume control without needing access to the amplifier or system rack.
Designed for SmartAmp 10, SmartAmp 20 and SmartAmp 30, the ZonePad VL1 uses a single rotary dial for clean, intuitive operation. The maximum level is set at the SmartAmp, with the VL1 then providing local attenuation from that point. This helps keep everyday control simple while allowing the installer to retain overall system gain structure and maximum output control.
Connection is via a 3-pin terminal block wired to the SmartAmp GPIO connection, using GND, GPI and VCC. For SmartAmp 20 and SmartAmp 30 systems, a second ZonePad VL1 can be wired to provide independent control of another zone, making it a practical option for small multi-zone commercial installations.
The UK/EU version fits a standard single-gang back box and has a compact 85.8mm x 85.8mm front plate, making it suitable for discreet installation in bars, restaurants, cafés, retail spaces, offices, meeting rooms, classrooms and hospitality areas.
