The Optimal Audio Column 8 is a slim passive column loudspeaker designed for commercial audio installations where clear speech, controlled coverage and discreet appearance are important. Featuring eight 2.2" full-range drivers in a compact vertical array, it is well suited to cafés, bars, restaurants, retail spaces, classrooms, hotel public areas, smaller houses of worship and other environments where audio needs to remain clear without visually dominating the room.
Its wide 150° horizontal dispersion helps cover audience areas evenly, while the narrow 7° vertical dispersion helps reduce unwanted sound spill towards ceilings and floors. This makes the Column 8 a practical choice for reverberant or acoustically challenging spaces where speech intelligibility and controlled music playback are important.
The Column 8 can be used on either low-impedance or distributed line systems, with 8Ω operation and built-in 70V/100V transformer taps. This gives installers flexibility when designing smaller local systems or larger multi-speaker commercial audio layouts. When used with suitable Optimal Audio electronics, Speech and Music DSP presets are also available via WebApp to support faster system setup.
Each loudspeaker includes a full installation accessory kit, with a pan-and-tilt wall bracket, metal safety strap, IP54 weatherisation kit and spare grille cloth supplied in the box. The cabinet is IP54 rated when used with the accessory terminal cover, making it suitable for a wider range of indoor and sheltered outdoor applications.
