The Optimal Audio Column 16 is a slim passive column loudspeaker designed for larger or more acoustically demanding commercial audio spaces. Featuring sixteen 2.2" full-range drivers in a 1.1m vertical array, it is well suited to houses of worship, conference halls, atriums, transport concourses, hospitality venues, retail environments and public spaces where speech clarity and controlled music coverage are important.
Its wide 150° horizontal dispersion helps provide broad audience coverage, while the tight 5° vertical dispersion helps keep sound focused towards the listening area. This controlled vertical pattern is particularly useful in reflective rooms, high-ceiling spaces and longer coverage areas where unwanted sound spill onto ceilings and floors can reduce intelligibility.
The Column 16 can be used on either low-impedance or distributed line systems, with 8Ω operation and built-in 70V/100V transformer taps. This gives installers flexibility when designing commercial background music, speech reinforcement or multi-zone systems. When paired with suitable Optimal Audio electronics, Speech and Music DSP presets are also available via WebApp to support faster system setup.
Each loudspeaker includes a practical installation accessory kit, with a pan-and-tilt wall bracket, metal safety strap, IP54 weatherisation kit and spare grille cloth supplied in the box. The cabinet is IP54 rated when used with the accessory terminal cover, making it suitable for a wider range of indoor and sheltered outdoor applications.
