The Martin Audio SXH218 is a high-performance dual 18” passive subwoofer designed for demanding professional sound systems where maximum low frequency output, strong projection and excellent bass impact are required. Using Martin Audio’s Hybrid horn/reflex loading, the SXH218 combines the efficiency and punch of horn-loaded bass with the low frequency extension of a reflex design, making it suitable for large-scale live sound, premium venues, nightclubs, theatres, concert spaces and high-output fixed installations.
At the heart of the SXH218 are two long-excursion 18” neodymium drivers, each with a 4.5” voice coil and waterproof cone. This driver configuration delivers substantial low frequency output with excellent transient response and headroom. With 3,400W AES power handling and 13,600W peak capability, the SXH218 is designed for serious bass reinforcement where standard compact subwoofers may not provide the required output or low-end authority.
The SXH218 offers a frequency response of 32Hz–150Hz ±3dB, with extension down to 27Hz at -10dB. This makes it suitable for systems requiring deep, controlled bass across live music, club, event and installation environments. It is also an ideal partner for Martin Audio Wavefront Precision systems where high-output ground-stacked subwoofers are required.
With a maximum SPL of 148dB peak, or 154dB peak with crest factor 4, the SXH218 is built for applications where significant low frequency energy is required across larger audience areas. It can operate in standard omnidirectional configurations or be used in cardioid arrangements when paired and processed correctly, helping reduce rearward bass energy and improve low frequency control on stage or behind the array.
The enclosure is constructed from multi-laminate birch/poplar plywood and finished in hard-wearing black textured paint. The cabinet includes skids, mating channels, six bar handles and rear-mounted castors, supporting practical handling, stacking and deployment in professional environments. Its ground-stack format makes it well suited to touring, event production and permanent installations where flown subwoofers are not required.
The updated SXH218 includes three NLT4MPXX-BAG connectors, with one front-mounted input and two rear connectors for improved cabling flexibility, especially in cardioid configurations. Front and rear LED indicators also support cabinet identification via Vu-Net, with the rear LED designed to assist cardioid subwoofer setup.
