The Martin Audio SX115 is a compact passive 15” subwoofer designed for professional sound systems that require powerful low frequency performance from a manageable cabinet size. Suitable for both portable and installed applications, it is well matched to live sound, bars, clubs, hotels, theatres, houses of worship, conference spaces, performance venues and commercial audio systems where strong bass reinforcement is required.
Built around a long-excursion 15” driver with a 4” voice coil, the SX115 delivers dynamic low frequency output with excellent headroom for its size. The driver uses a water-resistant cone and triple roll surround, while four reflex ports help improve low frequency efficiency and reduce turbulent air noise at higher output levels. This makes the SX115 suitable for music-led venues and performance spaces where clean, controlled bass is a key part of the system design.
With 800W AES power handling and 3200W peak capability, the SX115 provides a substantial step up from smaller compact subwoofers. Its 8Ω passive design requires suitable amplification and dedicated DSP processing, with the crossover frequency typically set around 100Hz. Correct amplifier matching, crossover configuration and limiter setup are important to achieve reliable performance and balanced integration with the main loudspeakers.
The SX115 can be used as a standalone subwoofer, stacked using its locating skids and mating channels, or flown using suitable installation hardware. It includes 24x M10 mounting points for suspension and an M20 top-mounted pole mount plate, allowing a compatible full-range loudspeaker to be positioned above the subwoofer when used in portable systems.
For more advanced system designs, cardioid operation can be achieved by arranging SX115 subwoofers in forward and rear-facing pairs, with each enclosure powered independently and used with the correct DSP presets. This can help reduce rearward low frequency energy, making it useful in venues where bass control behind the system is important.
The cabinet is constructed from plywood and finished in durable black textured paint for professional use. Two pocket handles assist with handling, while the coated steel grille and fabric backing protect the driver during transport, installation and operation. Optional castors and weatherised connector cover accessories are also available for applications where mobility or additional environmental protection is required.
