The Martin Audio iKON iK81 is a Dante-enabled 8-channel Class D power amplifier designed for professional loudspeaker systems requiring high output, advanced DSP and network-based control. Delivering 10,000W total output from a compact 2U rackmount chassis, the iK81 provides a powerful amplification platform for demanding installed and live sound applications.
Designed as a dedicated controller amplifier for Martin Audio Wavefront Precision WPM systems, the iK81 can also provide multi-channel amplification across a wide range of Martin Audio loudspeakers. It is well suited to venues, theatres, performance spaces, touring racks, commercial AV systems and larger installations where multiple loudspeaker channels need to be powered and managed from one amplifier.
Each of the eight amplifier channels can deliver 1250W into 2Ω, 4Ω or 8Ω, with 625W available into 16Ω. Bridged operation provides 2500W per channel pair into 4Ω or 8Ω, giving system designers additional flexibility when higher channel power is required. Constant voltage output options are also supported, with 25V, 70V and 100V line capability for suitable applications.
The iK81 includes high-performance DSP on all inputs and outputs, providing the processing required for loudspeaker optimisation, system alignment and protection. DSP functions include routing, delay, gain, high-pass filtering, phase, mute, crossover filters, EQ and limiting. The limiter suite includes peak, RMS, excursion and multiband limiting, helping protect both the amplifier and connected loudspeakers during operation.
Audio connectivity is highly flexible, with analogue, AES3 and Dante digital audio network inputs included as standard. Dante support allows audio distribution over a network, while AES67 compatibility supports wider interoperability within professional networked audio systems. Four Neutrik speakON NL4 output connectors are provided, with each connector carrying two amplifier output channels.
System control and monitoring is handled via Ethernet using Martin Audio’s VU-NET software, while the front panel interface provides local control for on-site operation. The amplifier also includes dual vari-speed fans with front-to-back airflow, a global 85–240V AC auto-sensing switch mode power supply and comprehensive monitoring features for professional system reliability.
