The Martin Audio FlexPoint FP12 is a compact passive coaxial point source loudspeaker designed for professional sound reinforcement, portable AV and fixed installation projects where high output, controlled coverage and premium audio quality are required. As the 12” model in the FlexPoint range, the FP12 delivers a strong balance of power, projection and practicality while remaining compact enough for flexible deployment.
The FP12 features a 12" low frequency driver with a 3" voice coil and a 1.4" exit high frequency driver with a 3" titanium diaphragm. This coaxial point source design helps create a coherent sound field, keeping music and speech clear across the listening area. It is well suited to short and medium throw applications where consistency, intelligibility and tonal quality are all important.
With 350W AES power handling and 1400W peak capability, the FP12 provides substantial output from a compact cabinet. Its 128dB peak SPL capability makes it suitable for live sound reinforcement, theatre sound, corporate AV, high-output stage monitoring, DJ applications, houses of worship, performance venues and fixed commercial installations. It can be used as a powerful standalone loudspeaker or integrated into a wider system with suitable Martin Audio subwoofers where additional low frequency impact is required.
The 90° horizontal x 60° vertical dispersion pattern provides controlled coverage for professional applications where sound needs to be directed accurately into the audience area. The user-rotatable drive unit allows the cabinet to be used in either portrait or landscape orientation, helping installers and technicians optimise coverage around room layouts, stage positions, mounting points and sightlines.
The FP12 offers a frequency response of 55Hz–20kHz ±3dB, with usable low frequency extension down to 44Hz at -10dB when used with the correct preset. This gives the speaker a full and capable tonal balance for music playback, speech and live performance. For optimum results, the FP12 should be used with appropriate Martin Audio processing or compatible controller amplification.
The enclosure is constructed from durable birch plywood and finished in black hardwearing paint, providing a professional appearance suitable for both portable and installed use. A quick-release steel grille with triple-layer polyester backing protects the driver while allowing access to the rotatable coaxial assembly. Twin handle pockets also assist with practical handling during setup, transport and installation.
Mounting flexibility is a key strength of the FP12. The cabinet includes 4x M10 fixing points, 17x M8 fixing points and a dual pole-mount socket with 0° and 15° down-tilt options. This allows the loudspeaker to be used with compatible yokes, wall brackets, rigging bars, pole mounts and installation hardware, supporting a wide range of deployment methods.
The FP12 can achieve an IP54 rating when fitted with two compatible speakON NLT4FXX connectors, making it suitable for selected applications where improved resistance to dust and water ingress is required. Correct connector selection, installation method and system design are important when using the loudspeaker in more demanding environments.
