The Martin Audio CDD8TX-WR is an 8” weatherised installation loudspeaker designed for commercial audio systems that require premium sound quality, 70V/100V line operation and improved environmental protection. Available in black or white, it is suitable for professional indoor installations as well as sheltered outdoor and semi-exposed areas where a higher-output architectural loudspeaker is required.
As the weatherised transformer version of the CDD8, the CDD8TX-WR is designed specifically for high impedance distributed audio systems. It includes an integrated 70V/100V line transformer with selectable tap settings, allowing the speaker output to be matched to the system design, amplifier capacity and coverage requirement. This makes it particularly useful for larger commercial areas, external hospitality zones, concourses, transport hubs, leisure environments, bars, restaurants, hotels and multi-zone venues.
The speaker uses an 8” low frequency driver with a 2” voice coil and a 1” exit high frequency compression driver with a 1.4” voice coil. This coaxial driver configuration supports clear and consistent audio from a compact enclosure, making the CDD8TX-WR suitable for background music, foreground music, speech reinforcement and general commercial sound applications.
Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology is designed to provide more even audience coverage than conventional fixed-pattern loudspeakers. The speaker delivers wider horizontal coverage close to the cabinet while projecting more effectively further into the listening area. This helps reduce excessive level variation across the space, supporting a more consistent listening experience for customers, guests or visitors.
The user-rotatable coaxial drive unit provides additional installation flexibility. The speaker can be installed in either portrait or landscape orientation, with the dispersion pattern adjusted to suit the venue layout. This is particularly useful where wall space, ceiling height, architectural features or audience positioning affect the ideal mounting arrangement.
With 120W AES power handling and 240W peak capability, the CDD8TX-WR provides dependable output for commercial systems that require more performance than smaller weatherised speakers. Its frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz, with low frequency extension down to 55Hz at -10dB, gives it a full and balanced tonal character for music and speech. For installations requiring additional bass impact, it can also be integrated with suitable Martin Audio subwoofers as part of a wider system design.
The weatherised construction makes the CDD8TX-WR suitable for environments subject to changing conditions, provided the loudspeaker is sheltered from direct exposure to the elements and installed correctly. The cabinet is rated to IP54 and includes a water and particle resistant grille, weatherised backing, weatherproof input panel cover and cable gland. This supports a clean and robust installation finish while helping protect the connection area.
The 14 litre composite enclosure measures 256mm x 410mm x 252mm and weighs 11.4kg. It includes 6x M6 inserts for compatible wall or ceiling brackets, giving installers flexibility when positioning the speaker for optimum coverage. Black and white finish options allow the loudspeaker to be matched to darker entertainment spaces, external structures, lighter architectural interiors or hospitality décor.
