The Martin Audio CDD8TX is a compact passive installation loudspeaker with an integrated 70V/100V line transformer, designed for professional commercial audio systems where high-quality sound and efficient distributed speaker design are required. Available in black or white, it is suitable for a wide range of interiors, including hospitality venues, bars, restaurants, retail environments, hotels, museums, leisure spaces, houses of worship, education buildings and multi-zone commercial installations.
As the transformer-equipped version of the CDD8, the CDD8TX is built for high impedance audio systems rather than conventional 8Ω operation. This makes it particularly useful where multiple loudspeakers need to be installed across a larger area or daisy-chained as part of a 70V or 100V line system. The selectable transformer taps allow the installer to assign appropriate power levels to each speaker, helping balance coverage, output and amplifier loading across the project.
The speaker uses an 8" low frequency driver with a 2" voice coil and a 1" exit high frequency compression driver with a 1.4" voice coil. This integrated coaxial arrangement supports clear, consistent audio from a compact cabinet, making the CDD8TX suitable for both speech and music applications. With a frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz ±3dB, the speaker delivers a full-range performance suitable for premium background music, foreground music and general commercial sound reinforcement.
A key advantage of the CDD8TX is Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology. Unlike a standard fixed-pattern loudspeaker, the CDD coverage pattern is designed to provide wider horizontal coverage close to the speaker and more focused projection further into the room. This helps deliver a more consistent listening experience, reducing excessive level differences between listeners positioned near the loudspeaker and those further away.
The user-rotatable drive unit adds further installation flexibility, allowing the coverage pattern to be optimised for vertical or horizontal mounting. This is particularly useful in venues with challenging layouts, limited wall space, architectural restrictions or mixed listening areas. The speaker includes 6x M6 inserts for compatible wall or ceiling mounting hardware, supporting a clean and professional installation.
With 120W AES power handling and 240W peak capability, the CDD8TX provides dependable output for commercial audio systems. The 70V line tap options are 120W, 60W, 30W and 15W, while the 100V line tap options are 120W, 60W and 30W. This allows the speaker to be integrated into systems where power distribution, cable runs and amplifier efficiency are important parts of the design.
The enclosure is manufactured from composite material and uses a 14 litre cabinet volume. Its screw-free perforated steel grille gives the loudspeaker a clean installed appearance, making it suitable for visible installations where aesthetics are important. Black and white standard finish options allow the CDD8TX to be matched to darker entertainment-led spaces or lighter architectural interiors.
Measuring 256mm x 410mm x 252mm and weighing 11.1kg, the CDD8TX offers a strong balance of output capability and compact installation practicality.
