The Martin Audio CDD8 is a compact passive installation loudspeaker designed for commercial AV systems that require high output, controlled coverage and premium sound quality from a discreet on-wall cabinet. Available in black or white, the CDD8 is suitable for a wide range of interior styles, from darker hospitality and entertainment spaces through to lighter architectural environments where the loudspeaker needs to integrate cleanly with the room design.
As an 8” model within the Martin Audio CDD Series, the CDD8 offers a significant step up in output, bass response and headroom compared with the smaller CDD5 and CDD6 models. It is well suited to applications that need stronger foreground music performance, improved projection or wider room coverage while still retaining a compact installation footprint.
The loudspeaker uses an integrated 8” low frequency driver with a 2” voice coil and a 1” exit high frequency compression driver with a 1.4” voice coil. This coaxial design supports point-source behaviour, helping the low and high frequency sections work together more coherently across the listening area. The result is a compact installation speaker capable of delivering clear music playback, speech reinforcement and general commercial sound with strong consistency.
Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology is central to the CDD8’s performance. Its coverage pattern provides wider horizontal dispersion close to the loudspeaker and more focused projection further into the space. This helps create a more even listening experience across the room, reducing excessive level differences between listeners positioned near the speaker and those further away.
With 200W AES power handling and 800W peak capability, the CDD8 is suitable for more demanding commercial audio systems where smaller cabinets may not provide enough headroom. Its 8Ω nominal impedance is designed for low impedance amplifier systems, and the speaker should be used with suitable amplification and appropriate system processing. Martin Audio recommends compatible controller or amplifier presets to help protect the loudspeaker and optimise performance.
The CDD8 offers a frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz ±3dB, with usable low frequency extension down to 55Hz at -10dB. This gives the loudspeaker a full and balanced sound suitable for restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels, retail spaces, galleries, museums, leisure venues, education spaces, conference areas and houses of worship. For applications requiring extended low frequency output, it can also be paired with a suitable Martin Audio subwoofer as part of a larger system design.
The user-rotatable coaxial driver allows the dispersion pattern to be adjusted for vertical or horizontal installation. This provides flexibility when working around room layouts, ceiling heights, wall positions, sightlines and audience areas. The cabinet includes 6x M6 inserts for compatible wall or ceiling brackets, making it suitable for a range of professional fixed installation applications.
The enclosure is manufactured from a 14 litre composite material and fitted with a screw-free perforated steel grille with scrim cloth backing. This provides a professional installed appearance while keeping the cabinet visually refined. Measuring 256mm x 410mm x 252mm and weighing 9.5kg, the CDD8 remains compact enough for architectural installation while offering the performance required for higher-quality commercial sound systems.
