The Martin Audio CDD5 is an ultra-compact passive installation loudspeaker supplied as a pair, designed for professional AV systems where high-quality sound needs to be delivered from a discreet and space-efficient cabinet. Available in black or white, the CDD5 is suitable for a wide range of commercial interiors, allowing the speaker finish to be matched to the surrounding décor, ceiling detail, wall colour or venue design.
As part of Martin Audio’s CDD Series, the CDD5 uses Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology to provide controlled, consistent coverage from a compact enclosure. This makes it particularly effective in commercial spaces where listeners may be positioned across a wide area rather than directly in front of the loudspeaker. The dispersion pattern is designed to offer wider coverage close to the speaker and more focused projection further into the room, helping deliver a balanced listening experience with fewer obvious hot spots.
Each speaker combines a 5.25" low frequency driver with a 0.75" fabric dome high frequency driver in a two-way passive configuration. This coaxial arrangement helps deliver a smooth and coherent sound from a single compact cabinet, making the CDD5 suitable for background music, foreground music, speech reinforcement and distributed commercial audio systems. It is well suited to restaurants, bars, cafés, retail environments, hotels, offices, museums, galleries, meeting rooms, reception areas and education facilities.
With 100W AES power handling and 400W peak capability, the CDD5 provides strong performance for its size. The 8Ω nominal impedance makes it suitable for conventional low impedance systems using appropriate amplification. Where multiple speakers are used across a venue, amplifier loading should be calculated correctly to ensure reliable system performance and suitable power delivery.
The CDD5 offers a frequency response of 100Hz–20kHz ±3dB, with low frequency extension down to 70Hz at -10dB. This gives the speaker a clear and balanced tonal character for everyday commercial music and speech applications. For installations requiring additional bass extension or more impact, the CDD5 can also be integrated with a suitable Martin Audio subwoofer as part of a wider system design.
A key benefit of the CDD5 is its user-rotatable dispersion, specified at 120°–90° horizontal by 80° vertical. This allows the coverage pattern to be adapted depending on whether the speaker is installed vertically or horizontally. In practical terms, this gives installers greater flexibility when working with different room layouts, wall positions and audience areas, while still maintaining controlled sound coverage.
The cabinet is manufactured from rigid moulded ABS, giving the speaker a durable yet lightweight construction suitable for fixed installation. At just 160mm x 230mm x 149mm per speaker and 2.7kg each, the CDD5 is compact enough for discreet installation while still offering a professional level of output and clarity. The included brackets support practical wall or ceiling mounting, making the speaker suitable for a broad range of installed AV applications.
