Description
The Martin Audio CDD12 is a compact, high-output passive installation loudspeaker designed for professional AV systems that require strong projection, controlled coverage and premium sound quality. Available in black or white, it is suitable for a wide range of commercial and performance-led environments where a discreet but powerful installed loudspeaker is required.
As a 12” model within the Martin Audio CDD Series, the CDD12 offers a significant increase in output, low frequency extension and overall headroom compared with smaller CDD models. It is particularly well suited to venues that need higher sound pressure levels and greater throw while maintaining the refined appearance and installation flexibility of the CDD range.
The loudspeaker uses a 12” low frequency driver with a 2.5” voice coil and a 1” exit high frequency compression driver with a 1.7” voice coil. This coaxial configuration helps deliver a coherent sound from a single cabinet, supporting clear music playback, speech reinforcement and foreground audio across demanding commercial spaces.
Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology is designed to provide more consistent coverage than a conventional fixed-pattern loudspeaker. The CDD12 delivers wider horizontal coverage close to the speaker and more focused projection further into the listening area. This helps reduce excessive level differences between people positioned near the loudspeaker and those further away, creating a smoother and more balanced listening experience across the space.
With 300W AES power handling and 1200W peak capability, the CDD12 is suitable for installations requiring serious output from a compact cabinet. Its 8Ω nominal impedance is intended for low impedance amplifier systems, with appropriate amplification and system processing specified to suit the project. For best performance and loudspeaker protection, the CDD12 should be used with suitable Martin Audio controller or amplifier presets.
The frequency response of 62Hz–20kHz ±3dB, with useful low frequency extension down to 50Hz at -10dB, allows the CDD12 to deliver a full and capable sound without relying on a large cabinet. For music-led venues requiring additional bass impact, the CDD12 can also be paired with a suitable Martin Audio subwoofer as part of a wider installed system.
The user-rotatable coaxial driver gives installers flexibility when working with portrait or landscape mounting. With a 110°–60° horizontal dispersion pattern and 60° vertical coverage, the cabinet can be configured to suit the layout of the room, mounting height, audience area and architectural constraints. This makes it a practical option for bars, restaurants, event spaces, performance areas, houses of worship, education halls, leisure venues and multi-purpose commercial environments.
The CDD12 is housed in a 38 litre birch plywood enclosure, providing a robust construction suitable for professional fixed installation. The multi-angle cabinet shape allows the loudspeaker to be positioned effectively on walls or suspended using appropriate mounting accessories. It includes 6x M8 inserts for wall bracket mounting and 10x M8 fly points, supporting a wide range of installation approaches using correctly rated hardware.
The cabinet is finished in black or white textured paint as standard and includes a perforated steel grille with scrim cloth backing. This gives the speaker a clean architectural appearance while maintaining the durability required for commercial installation work. Measuring 360mm x 560mm x 350mm and weighing 19kg, the CDD12 remains compact for its output level while offering the performance needed for larger and more demanding audio zones.
The Martin Audio CDD12 is a strong choice for professional installations requiring high-output passive loudspeakers with controlled coverage, strong intelligibility and premium sound quality. It is particularly suitable where foreground music, speech clarity, audience coverage and long-term system reliability are key requirements.
