Description
The Martin Audio CDD-LIVE 8 is an ultra-compact active powered loudspeaker designed for professional sound reinforcement, portable AV systems and fixed installation projects where high output and premium audio quality are required from a compact cabinet. Built around Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology, the CDD-LIVE 8 delivers controlled, consistent coverage from a small-format powered enclosure.
Using an 8" low frequency driver and a 1" exit high frequency compression driver, the CDD-LIVE 8 is capable of producing a full, clear and detailed sound suitable for music playback, speech reinforcement, corporate AV, live sound, theatre, frontfill, infill, monitoring and distributed commercial audio. Its compact cabinet makes it easy to deploy where space is limited, while its output capability gives it the performance required for more demanding applications.
A key advantage of the CDD-LIVE 8 is its self-powered design. The built-in two-channel Class D amplifier delivers 1300W peak output in total, with 1000W dedicated to the low frequency section and 300W to the high frequency section. This removes the need for external amplifier racks and allows the speaker to be used as a streamlined, high-performance system with onboard amplification, DSP and networking built directly into the cabinet.
The onboard DSP provides processing, presets and system control, helping optimise performance for different applications. Presets can be selected from the rear panel for straightforward standalone use, while more advanced control is available via Martin Audio’s VU-NET software over Ethernet. This gives system designers, technicians and installers access to functions such as EQ, delay, gain, muting and preset management.
Dante digital audio networking is also built in, allowing audio to be distributed over a network connection using compatible Dante-enabled equipment. This makes the CDD-LIVE 8 suitable for modern AV systems where digital audio routing, clean cabling and network-based infrastructure are preferred. For conventional setups, analogue XLR input and link connections are also provided.
The CDD-LIVE 8 features a user-rotatable coaxial driver, allowing the coverage pattern to be aligned for either vertical or horizontal cabinet orientation. With 110°–80° horizontal dispersion and 60° vertical coverage, the speaker is designed to deliver wider coverage close to the cabinet while projecting effectively further into the listening area. This helps create a more consistent audience experience compared with conventional fixed-pattern loudspeakers.
The cabinet is constructed from braced multi-laminate plywood and finished in a durable textured black PU coating. Its multi-angle enclosure allows it to be used vertically, horizontally or as a compact stage monitor, making it suitable for both installed and portable applications. A top hat is included for pole mounting, while 15x M8 mounting points provide compatibility with suitable wall, yoke and universal bracket accessories.
With a frequency response of 70Hz–20kHz ±3dB and a maximum SPL of 123dB peak, the CDD-LIVE 8 offers strong performance from a compact active loudspeaker. It can be used as a standalone full-range speaker or partnered with suitable Martin Audio powered subwoofers where additional low frequency extension and impact are required.
The Martin Audio CDD-LIVE 8 is a strong choice for professional users who need a compact active speaker with high-quality sound, Dante networking, onboard DSP and flexible deployment options. It is equally suitable for live sound, corporate AV, installation projects, theatre systems, hospitality venues and compact performance spaces where premium performance and operational efficiency are important.
