The Martin Audio CDD-LIVE 12 is a compact active powered loudspeaker designed for professional sound reinforcement, portable AV systems and fixed installation projects where high output, premium audio quality and flexible deployment are required. As the 12” model in the CDD-LIVE range, the CDD-LIVE 12 offers a significant performance step up from smaller compact speakers while retaining a practical, multi-angle enclosure. It is designed for applications that require strong output, clear intelligibility and high fidelity from a self-powered cabinet, reducing the need for external amplifier racks and simplifying system deployment.
The loudspeaker uses a 12" low frequency driver with a 2.5" voice coil and a coaxially mounted 1" exit high frequency compression driver with a 1.7" voice coil. This driver configuration supports point-source behaviour, helping the low and high frequency sections integrate smoothly across the listening area. The result is a coherent sound that works well for music playback, speech reinforcement, live performance and stage monitoring.
Martin Audio’s Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology is central to the CDD-LIVE 12’s coverage performance. Its dispersion pattern provides wider horizontal coverage close to the loudspeaker and more focused projection further into the room. This helps create a more even listening experience, reducing excessive level differences between people positioned near the speaker and those further away.
The CDD-LIVE 12 includes a powerful onboard two-channel Class D amplifier delivering 2500W peak output, with 2000W assigned to the low frequency driver and 500W to the high frequency driver. This active design ensures the amplifier, DSP and loudspeaker components are optimised to work together, providing a streamlined solution for professional users who need strong output and consistent performance from a compact cabinet.
Onboard DSP provides advanced processing and control, including EQ, delay, gain, muting and preset selection. Rear panel presets allow straightforward operation for simpler setups, while Martin Audio’s VU-NET software enables deeper configuration and remote control over Ethernet. This gives system designers, technicians and installers greater flexibility when configuring the speaker for different venues, layouts and deployment methods.
Dante digital audio networking is built in, allowing high-quality audio to be distributed over a network connection using compatible Dante-enabled equipment. This is especially useful for modern AV installations, corporate events and larger audio systems where clean cable infrastructure and digital routing are preferred. Conventional analogue XLR input and link connections are also included for standard audio setups.
The multi-angle cabinet is constructed from braced multi-laminate plywood and designed for vertical, horizontal or monitor-style use. The user-rotatable coaxial driver allows the coverage pattern to be correctly aligned for the chosen orientation. A top hat is included for pole mounting, while 15x M8 mounting points support installation with suitable brackets, yokes or universal mounting accessories.
With a frequency response of 62Hz–20kHz ±3dB and a peak output capability of 128dB, the CDD-LIVE 12 is suitable for demanding full-range applications. It can be used as a standalone powered loudspeaker or combined with suitable Martin Audio powered subwoofers where additional low frequency extension and impact are required.
