The Martin Audio C8.1T is a high-performance 8” two-way ceiling loudspeaker designed for commercial audio installations where stronger output, controlled dispersion and professional sound quality are required from a discreet flush-mounted format. As the largest model in the Martin Audio Ceiling Series, it is particularly well suited to higher ceiling spaces and more demanding environments where smaller ceiling speakers may not provide enough projection or headroom.
Built around an 8” low frequency driver and a 1” dome tweeter, the C8.1T delivers a full, clear and controlled sound for both music and speech applications. The larger driver gives the speaker improved low frequency performance and greater output capability, making it suitable for foreground music systems as well as high-quality background audio. Typical applications include restaurants, bars, hotels, retail spaces, offices, education buildings, meeting rooms, conference areas, reception spaces and commercial hospitality environments.
The C8.1T has been designed with a controlled 90° conical dispersion pattern, helping focus sound into the listening area and maintain intelligibility in more reverberant rooms. This makes it especially useful in spaces with higher ceilings, harder surfaces or more challenging acoustics, where wide-dispersion ceiling speakers may spread sound too broadly. The result is a more controlled coverage pattern that supports clearer speech and a more consistent listening experience.
The speaker includes an integrated 70V/100V line transformer, making it suitable for distributed audio systems where multiple ceiling speakers are required across larger areas or several zones. Transformer taps are selectable at 60W, 30W and 15W on 100V line systems, with an additional 7.5W tap available on 70V systems. A 16Ω low impedance option is also included, giving installers flexibility when designing either high impedance or traditional low impedance systems.
With 125W AES power handling and 500W peak capability, the C8.1T provides strong performance for commercial installations requiring higher output from a ceiling speaker. Its frequency response of 80Hz–18kHz, with extension down to 50Hz at -10dB, gives it a fuller tonal balance than smaller ceiling models. This makes it a practical choice where music quality is a priority, particularly in hospitality and retail environments where the sound system forms part of the overall customer experience.
The enclosure uses a steel backcan with a perforated steel grille, providing a robust and professional construction for fixed installation. The white UV-resistant bezel and grille offer a clean architectural finish and can be overpainted where a closer match to the ceiling is required. The speaker is supplied with tile rails, a C bracket, paint mask and cut-out template, helping support a structured and efficient installation process.
The C8.1T requires a 308mm ceiling cut-out and has an outside diameter of 354mm with a depth of 258mm. At 6.7kg, it is a substantial ceiling loudspeaker and should be installed into a suitable ceiling structure using appropriate fixings and support. The rising clamp plug and socket connector arrangement supports pre-wiring, while input and link terminals make it practical for larger distributed systems.
