The Martin Audio C4.8T is a compact two-way ceiling loudspeaker designed for commercial installations where discreet appearance, wide coverage and clear audio performance are required. Built for flush-mount ceiling applications, it is particularly well suited to low ceiling environments where an even spread of sound is needed across the listening area without using a large number of loudspeakers.
Featuring a 4" low frequency driver and a 0.8" dome tweeter mounted side by side on the baffle, the C4.8T is designed to deliver smooth off-axis response and strong intelligibility from a compact ceiling format. This makes it a suitable choice for background music, speech reinforcement and general commercial audio systems in restaurants, cafés, retail stores, offices, hotels, education facilities, meeting rooms, reception areas and hospitality spaces.
The C4.8T includes both high impedance and low impedance operation, giving installers flexibility across different system designs. The integrated 70V/100V line transformer makes it suitable for distributed speaker systems where multiple loudspeakers are required across a wider area or across several zones. Transformer tap options allow the loudspeaker to be set at appropriate power levels for the room, helping manage amplifier loading and system balance. A 16Ω low impedance option is also available for installations that require conventional low impedance operation.
With 40W AES power handling and 160W peak capability, the C4.8T offers dependable performance for day-to-day installed audio applications. Its frequency response of 100Hz–20kHz provides a clear and balanced sound for background music and speech, while the wide 180° conical dispersion up to 10kHz helps maintain consistent coverage in rooms where listeners may be positioned across a broad area rather than directly beneath each speaker.
The speaker is housed in a steel backcan and fitted with a perforated steel grille, giving it a robust construction suitable for professional installation work. The white UV-resistant bezel and grille provide a clean architectural finish and can be overpainted where a closer match to the ceiling finish is required. This makes the C4.8T a strong option for projects where the loudspeaker needs to blend neatly into the building interior.
Installation is supported by the included tile rails, C bracket, paint mask and cut-out template. These accessories help streamline fitting into suitable ceiling structures and support a professional installation finish. The speaker requires a 178mm cut-out and has an outside diameter of 205mm with a depth of 131mm, making it practical for compact ceiling voids where space is limited.
The C4.8T is also designed for pre-wiring convenience, using a rising clamp plug and socket connection system. This is useful for commercial projects where cabling and speaker fitting may be completed in stages, helping improve installation efficiency on site.
