The FBT Ventis 112A is a professional active 2 way point source loudspeaker designed for live sound, fixed installation and portable AV applications where strong output, clear sound and flexible onboard control are required. Built around a 12" low frequency driver and 1" high frequency compression driver, it provides a high-performance solution for venues, schools, houses of worship, theatres, bars, AV installers, hire companies, DJs and small to medium live performance spaces.
The Ventis 112A is part of the FBT Ventis range, which is designed for both installed and portable professional audio use. It combines a custom 12" low frequency woofer with a 2.5" voice coil and a 1" exit throat B&C high frequency compression driver with a 1.4" voice coil. This driver configuration gives the speaker the scale and output required for full-range speech, music playback and live performance, while still maintaining the controlled coverage and clarity expected from a professional point source loudspeaker.
Power is delivered through integrated bi-amplification, with 700W RMS dedicated to the low frequency section and 200W RMS for the high frequency section. This gives the loudspeaker a total built-in amplifier power rating of 900W RMS, with peak amplifier power listed at 1800W. By using onboard amplification, the Ventis 112A removes the need for external amplifier matching, making it easier to deploy in portable systems while also simplifying specification for fixed installations.
The loudspeaker offers a frequency response of 42Hz to 20kHz at -6dB, making it suitable for a broad range of applications, from speech and vocal reinforcement through to music playback and live band use. With a maximum SPL of 126dB continuous and 133dB peak, the Ventis 112A provides a noticeable increase in output over smaller cabinets in the range, making it suitable for larger rooms, more demanding events and applications where a stronger full-range cabinet is required.
Coverage is handled by an 80° x 50° constant directivity horn, which can be rotated to suit horizontal or vertical use. In a fixed installation, the rotatable horn can help optimise audience coverage when the speaker is wall-mounted, flown or used in a horizontal orientation. The onboard DSP gives the Ventis 112A a high level of practical control. FBT lists six pre-optimised settings, plus two further user memory slots that allow custom settings to be created using five parametric equalisers per slot. This allows the speaker to be adjusted for different applications such as speech, DJ playback, live music, touring use or warmer background music reproduction. The DSP also includes adjustable delay between 0 and 10m, making it useful for delay-fill, distributed sound and alignment work in smaller systems.
Connectivity is designed for professional and general AV use. The input panel includes an XLR/jack combo socket, XLR link output and RCA stereo input. The XLR/jack combo input is suitable for mixers, processors, audio interfaces and professional source equipment, while the XLR link output allows signal to be passed to another speaker. The RCA stereo input provides a useful option for simpler playback sources, making the Ventis 112A flexible enough for both live sound and fixed AV applications.
The cabinet is constructed from 15mm birch plywood with internal bracing and a scratch-resistant finish, giving it a robust feel for professional use. It also includes two aluminium handles, making the cabinet easier to manage during setup and pack-down.
