The Blustream HSP14CS 4 Way HDBaseT CSC Splitter is a professional HDMI distribution solution designed to send one HDMI source to four remote displays over a single CAT cable to each display location. It is ideal for commercial AV installations where one video source needs to be shown across multiple screens, including hospitality venues, sports bars, retail environments, classrooms, boardrooms, training rooms, houses of worship, reception areas and high-end residential AV systems.
Unlike a standard HDMI splitter, the HSP14CS outputs directly over HDBaseT. This means the splitter can be installed centrally in an AV rack, cupboard or equipment location, with CAT cable runs feeding each display position. This makes it especially useful where long HDMI cable runs would be impractical, untidy or less reliable. The unit distributes HDMI video and audio, bi-directional IR and PoH over a single CAT cable, supporting 1080p transmission up to 70m and 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 transmission up to 40m. This unit is to be used in conjunction with the HEX70CS-RX receiver.
The HSP14CS features one HDMI input which is replicated to four simultaneous HDBaseT outputs. This makes it suitable for applications where every connected display needs to show the same content. Typical source devices may include a Sky box, media player, signage player, laptop, presentation switcher, video conferencing output, set-top box or AV receiver. In a sports bar or hospitality venue, it could be used to distribute one source to multiple displays around the room. In a classroom or training room, it could send a presentation feed to several screens positioned around the space.
A useful feature of the HSP14CS is its HDMI loop output. This allows a local display to be connected near the splitter, or the HDMI signal to be cascaded into further distribution equipment where required. In practical installation terms, this can be useful for a local rack monitor, bar display, control desk screen or nearby presentation display. It gives the installer an extra HDMI output without needing to add a separate HDMI distribution amplifier at the head end.
The unit uses Blustream Colour Space Conversion technology to support HDMI 2.0 18Gbps signals, including HDR, over HDBaseT infrastructure. This is valuable in modern AV installations where 4K content needs to be distributed reliably over CAT cable while maintaining compatibility with current display and source equipment. Blustream explains that CSC allows high-bandwidth 4K signals to be managed over the 10.2Gbps limitations of standard HDBaseT by converting the colour space while retaining resolution, frame rate and colour depth.
Independent down-scaling is another key benefit. The HSP14CS can down-scale 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 video inputs to 1080p 60Hz for screens that do not support 4K, or to 4K 60Hz 4:2:0 for displays that do not support full 4K 60Hz 4:4:4. This is particularly useful in real-world installations where not every display is the same specification. For example, a venue may have newer 4K screens in key areas and older 1080p screens elsewhere. The splitter helps these displays operate within the same system without forcing every screen to the lowest common resolution. The downscaling feature does not support 4K 4:2:2 input signals, so that limitation should be considered during system design.
For audio integration, the HSP14CS includes HDMI audio breakout to both analogue L/R audio and coaxial digital outputs at the same time. This allows audio from the HDMI source to be routed into an amplifier, DSP, mixer, AV receiver, soundbar or wider distributed audio system. In commercial environments, this can be helpful where the display image is sent around the venue but the audio is handled by a dedicated sound system rather than by the screens themselves.
The HSP14CS also supports known HDMI audio formats including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio transmission. This makes it suitable for both commercial and residential AV systems where embedded HDMI audio needs to be preserved through the video distribution path. HDCP 2.2 support is included for compatibility with protected modern HDMI content sources.
Bi-directional IR support allows control signals to pass between the central equipment location and display positions. This can be useful where a source device is installed in an AV rack but still needs to be controlled from a room or screen location. The splitter also supports PoH to power compatible HDBaseT receivers, helping reduce the need for separate power supplies at each display point and supporting a cleaner installation.
