Description
The Blustream HD11AU HDMI Audio Embedder / De-Embedder is a compact signal management solution designed for AV installations where HDMI audio needs to be extracted, replaced or routed separately from the main video signal. It is ideal for commercial AV systems, meeting rooms, classrooms, hospitality venues, retail displays, digital signage systems, residential AV installations and rack-based media systems where greater control over HDMI audio routing is required.
The HD11AU can be configured to operate as either an HDMI audio de-embedder or an HDMI audio embedder. In de-embed mode, it extracts audio from an incoming HDMI signal and outputs it simultaneously via analogue stereo and coaxial digital audio connections. This allows audio from an HDMI source to be sent into a separate amplifier, audio processor, powered speaker system, AV receiver or wider distributed audio setup, while the HDMI video continues to pass through to a display, projector or downstream HDMI device.
This is particularly useful in commercial environments where display audio is not suitable or where a dedicated audio system is being used. For example, a media player, set-top box or presentation source can feed a display via HDMI, while the audio is extracted and routed into a ceiling speaker system, background music amplifier, DSP or local sound system. In hospitality, education and corporate spaces, this helps deliver a more professional result than relying on built-in screen speakers.
In embed mode, the HD11AU can remove the original audio from the HDMI input signal and embed a separate analogue stereo audio signal onto the HDMI output. This makes it suitable for installations where the video source needs to remain in place but the audio source needs to be changed. An example could include sending a presentation, signage feed or video source to a display while embedding an alternative audio feed from a mixer, audio interface or local source device.
The unit supports 4K UHD video formats including 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz 4:4:4, 4096 x 2160 at 24Hz 4:4:4 and 4K at 60Hz 4:2:0. It also supports standard video resolutions from 480i through to 4K, alongside PC resolutions from VGA to WUXGA. This gives installers flexibility when working with a broad range of HDMI sources and displays, from full HD commercial screens through to 4K UHD display systems. Blustream lists the HD11AU as HDMI 1.4 and HDCP 1.4 compliant.
The HD11AU supports known HDMI audio formats including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio transmission, making it suitable for systems where multichannel HDMI audio needs to pass through the HDMI path. The analogue stereo output is designed for 2 channel PCM audio, which is important when connecting into conventional stereo amplifiers or analogue audio systems. The coaxial digital output provides an additional digital audio option for compatible audio equipment.
EDID management is included to help resolve HDMI handshaking issues between connected equipment. This is particularly valuable in real-world AV installations where different displays, source devices and audio systems may not communicate cleanly without signal management. The HD11AU can also extract audio with or without a connected display, allowing it to operate as an HDMI end-sink when required. CEC bypass support is also included for systems that require Consumer Electronics Control signals to pass through the HDMI chain.
Its compact size makes the HD11AU easy to integrate behind a display, inside an AV cabinet, within a rack or near a local source device. The product dimensions are 60mm x 70mm x 25mm without connections and 60mm x 80mm x 25mm with connections. Product weight is listed at 0.15kg excluding accessories, with a shipping weight of 0.5kg. A mounting kit and 5V / 1A DC power supply are included, supporting a clean and secure installation.
For installers who need a straightforward way to extract HDMI audio, embed an alternative stereo source or improve HDMI audio routing within a professional AV system, the Blustream HD11AU provides a compact and flexible solution. It is especially useful where a display, projector or signage screen needs to remain connected over HDMI while the audio is handled separately by a dedicated sound system.
